Mission: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the body of the Central State Administration whose mission consists of proposing, and once approved, executing State and Government foreign policy, and to monitor its fulfillment.
Vision: Foreign Relations System oriented to defend the Socialist homeland, the principles of revolutionary diplomacy and the struggle for peace, with respect for International Law, sovereignty, the independence and self-determination of peoples; the promotion of international cooperation and solidarity and to ensure efficient consular services for Cuban nationals abroad.
Principles:
In its work, the Cuban Foreign Office materializes the principles of revolutionary diplomacy and accepts the basic principles of International law: respect for sovereignty, Independence and territorial integrity of States; self-determination of peoples; equality of States and peoples; rejection of interference in the domestic affairs of other States; the right to international cooperation in mutual and equitable benefit and interest; peaceful relations among States; and other precepts enshrined in the United Nations Charter. The backbone of Cuban foreign policy is constituted by internationalism, anti-imperialism, solidarity and unity among the countries of the Third World.
Cuba condemns all hegemonic practices using interference and discrimination in international affairs, as well as threats or the use of force, the adoption of unilateral coercive measures, aggression and any form of terrorism, including State terrorism. The Constitution of the Republic of Cuba condemns any kind of discrimination based on race, creed or opinion and it prohibits negotiation under Aggression, threats or coercion by a foreign power.
Principal Objectives:
- Defending the Socialist homeland from campaigns, threats and hostile actions within the realm of international relations
- Fighting for the elimination of the blockade
- Promoting respectful dialogue, under equal conditions and with bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest in order to resolve the historic differences with the government of the United States.
- Contributing actively to the integration of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean
- Fostering and consolidating bilateral and multilateral policies and strategies towards matters, countries and regions
- Promoting international collaboration and solidarity
- Supporting the unity of the peoples of the Third World
- Defending multilateralism and the application of the principles of International law and the United Nations Charter in international relations
- Augmenting the efficiency and efficacy of the consular services being offered to Cuban nationals abroad
- Increasing the efficiency and efficacy of the development of the processes of foreign policy and the internal functioning of the Foreign Affairs System
- Increasing the efficient and efficacious use of available resources, emphasizing training and professional development of human resources
