Cuba is grateful for the support provided by UNICEF at all times in addressing and recovering from the pandemic, in which priority and special attention were given to the well-being of our children. In a context marked by the limitations derived from the application of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on our country, cooperation with UNICEF contributed to the strengthening of the capacities of our health institutions

Cuban health professionals celebrated the Latin American Medicine Day and the 32nd anniversary of medical collaboration in this Central American country. In addition, Cuban authorities that attended the ceremony saw off a group of collaborators who concluded with outstanding results their internationalist mission in favor of public health care of the people of Belize.

The newly elected Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, the Honorable Dr. Denzil Douglas, who also heads the Ministries of Economic Development, International Trade, lnvestment, lndustry and Commerce, received at the Foreign Ministry, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, David Rivero Pérez, who paid him a courtesy visit. The meeting, held in a fraternal atmosphere, was conducive to exchanging on issues on the bilateral agenda, not only in the political sphere, but also in the economic and cooperation.

The European Union (EU) said today  it is ready to coordinate aid to Cuba in the face of the fire that broke out in the Matanzas industrial zone, after the activation of its Civil Protection mechanism. The European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, specified that Spain will send medicines and medical supplies to the island next Friday, making it the first of the 27 member states of the bloc to respond after activation.

The associations Cuba-Soberana and Cubanismo.be  launched today a call from Belgium aimed at encouraging solidarity with the island by transferring money and donations to alleviate the consequences of the fire affecting the industrial zone of Matanzas. This support is more than necessary to help the island in the purchase of medicines and medical supplies that are urgently needed in a situation like this, Cubanismo.be stressed.

Cuba has received numerous expressions of solidarity after a major fire broke out in the industrial area of Matanzas, following a lightning strike on a fuel deposit. Manu Pineda, through his Twitter account, assured that the Cuban people "will overcome this severe setback with their proven courage”.

“It is unacceptable that nuclear-weapon States use the resources that should be directed to addressing the multidimensional effects of COVID-19 and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, to continue to develop new types of nuclear weapons", stated Cuba at the 10th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons General Debate.

The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Cuban Mission to the United Nations, Ambassador Yuri Gala López, appeared before the United Nations Committee on Relations with the Host Country, where he denounced the violations to which Cuban diplomats accredited to the UN are subjected. The Cuban representative stated that the Host Country, by selectively and arbitrarily applying the Headquarters Agreement, abuses its condition in clear violation of the principle of sovereign equality, endorsed in the United Nations Charter.

We reiterate our support for a comprehensive and thorough reform of the Security Council, including its working methods, to make it a transparent, democratic and representative organ. It is imperative that the Security Council adopts its rules of procedure, so that an end can be put to the "temporariness" that its rules have had since the establishment of this organ. This is indispensable for transparency and the necessary accountability to all United Nations Member States, on behalf of which the Council must act, in conformity with Article 24 of the Charter.
