More than a dozen faith-based organizations have signed a letter urging policymakers and leaders to take steps to reduce hardships for ordinary people in Cuba and to reduce barriers that prevent communities from accessing food, medicine and basic necessities. The letter, being delivered to the White House and Congress, also calls on faith groups to speak out about the suffering of the Cuban people.

The Non-Aligned Movement expresses its deep concern regarding the recent announcement by the Government of the United States of new extreme measures aimed at further tightening the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed against the Republic of Cuba, including actions intended to obstruct the supply of oil to the country and to sanction third States that maintain legitimate commercial relations with Cuba.

The Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations strongly condemns the announcement by the Government of the United States America of a new set of extreme measures aimed at further tightening the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed against the Republic of Cuba, through actions intended to obstruct the supply of oil to the country and to sanction third States that maintain legitimate commercial relations with Cuba.

Silence is complicity and solidarity a duty as the United States intensifies its economic war against Cuba with the announcement of a total blockade on fuel supplies, warned Mafa Kwanisai, coordinator of the Fidel Castro Chair at the University of the Midlands, in Zimbabwe.

The African National Congress (ANC) issued a strong statement of solidarity with Cuba following the publication of the Presidential Memorandum by the Donald Trump administration threatening a total blockade of all fuel supplies to the island. It strongly condemns the imposition of this blockade and describes the measure as a direct assault on the Cuban people, a continuation of decades of deliberate economic sabotage and strangulation imposed through an unjust and unilateral blockade.

When Laura Edell entered “Havana” into Toronto Dominion Bank’s (TD) Expedia-powered travel booking portal, the response was not a warning, a policy notice or legal explanation. the screen displayed a single message: “Sorry, it seems we have taken a wrong turn.” Expedia Group has blocked bookings to Cuba, citing legal risks arising from U.S. sanctions, including liability under the Helms-Burton Act. 

The Egyptian newspaper Al Ahram today criticized US threats against Cuba, following the aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of its president Nicolás Maduro. Journalist Kamal Gaballa emphasized that with the aggression against the South American nation, the White House is also targeting Cuba.

The Cuban flag illuminated prominent landmarks in Doha, the capital of Qatar, in honor of Cuba's National Day. The Cuban Lone Star Flag was projected last night onto the Sheraton Grand Hotel, a landmark on the city's skyline, and onto the Aspire Tower, also known as the Doha Torch, a 300-meter-tall skyscraper.
