President Díaz-Canel sends message to Second High-Level Meeting of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development
China, July 12, 2024.- Cuba is attending the Second High-Level Meeting of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development, which is taking place in the People's Republic of China until July 13.
At the opening of the Forum, which was chaired by the member of the Political Bureau and Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, a video message was presented by the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, in which he calls to promote development as the central axis of the system of international relations, to coordinate efficient cooperation to reduce inequality gaps and to advance in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
The inauguration was attended by 60 representatives of nations and international organizations and personalities such as Ban Ki-moon, who also delivered a speech.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, headed the Cuban delegation.
This event and in particular the Global Development Initiative (GDI), represents for Cuba a valuable space in the promotion of exchange and cooperation on a global scale, in function of speeding up the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Since the announcement by President Xi Jinping in 2021 of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), projects and development plans have been presented and executed with practical actions, for the construction of a global development community, which has favored several countries, especially developing nations.
