
President Díaz-Canel arrives in Vietnam
Hanoi, september 1, 2025.- The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, arrived in this city on Sunday morning to participate in the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the proclamation of independence and the founding of the then Democratic Republic of Vietnam, alongside leaders and delegations from various parts of the world who are arriving in this capital to accompany the Vietnamese people in what is expected to be an unprecedented celebration here.
At Noi Bai International Airport, the Head of State was received by Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the Political Bureau, director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, and president of the Central Theoretical Council, along with other party, government, and Friendship Association officials from both countries. Some 200 people, waving Cuban and Vietnamese flags and welcoming their true friends with joy, were also at the terminal.

According to reports hours before his arrival, the Cuban leader will then visit China and Laos as part of a tour of the Asian region. In China in particular, he will also attend the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese people's War of Resistance against Japanese aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, where a large military parade will also be held.
His agenda in Vietnam, a country he visited in 2018, includes meetings with To Lam, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Luong Cuong, president of the Republic, Phan Minh Chinh, prime minister, and Tran Than Man, president of the National Assembly.
He will also visit companies in the biopharmaceutical and telecommunications sectors, which have close ties with their counterparts on the island, and will hold a meeting with Vietnamese businesspeople from important sectors of Cuba's economic life.
This visit also takes place within the framework of the celebrations for the 65th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Cuba and Vietnam, which will be celebrated on December 2nd, 2025, and which have been dubbed the "Year of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship."
The delegation accompanying the Cuban president on this visit is composed of Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera, both members of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba; Emilio Lozada García, member of the Central Committee and head of its International Relations Department; Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment; Ydael Pérez Brito, Minister of Agriculture; Mayda Mauri Pérez, President of the Biocubafarma Business Group; and other officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
