Cuba ratifies its commitment to nuclear disarmament
Havana, June 21, 2022.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, ratified Cuba's firm commitment to nuclear disarmament, speaking at the opening day of the First Meeting of States of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Weapons Nuclear, which takes place from June 21 to 23 in Vienna, Austria.
In an official ceremony at the headquarters of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Ambassador Mirta Aurora Granda Averhoff presented to the President of this specialized agency of the United Nations, Gilbert Houngbo, the Letters of Credence that accredits her as Permanent Representative of Cuba. In a private meeting with the President, the excellent and fruitful relations between IFAD and Cuba were discussed and the will to continue strengthening them was ratified.
Ever since the first COVID-19 cases were diagnosed in Cuba, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has helped the country’s efforts to keep in place services deemed essential to children, teenagers and pregnant women with foods, syringes, means of protection, refrigerators and vital equipment such as an ambulance, an oxygen plant and high precision ultrasound equipment.
