Ever since the first COVID-19 cases were diagnosed in Cuba, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has helped the country’s efforts to keep in place services deemed essential to children, teenagers and pregnant women with foods, syringes, means of protection, refrigerators and vital equipment such as an ambulance, an oxygen plant and high precision ultrasound equipment.
Representatives of the accredited diplomatic corps in Cuba were briefed on Friday about the National Plan for Food Sovereignty and Nutritional Education, which seeks to increase agricultural production and substitute imports, among other objectives. Parliament President Esteban Lazo chaired the meeting, which was also attended by ministers, the representative of the United Nations for Food and Agriculture (FAO) in Cuba, Marcelo Resende, and the FAO adviser for such issues, Frei Betto, among others
The president of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), Esteban Lazo, received a delegation of European Parliament members and of the group La Izquierda, who have been visiting the Caribbean island. The meeting took place at the National Capitol, which according to the German MEP Martin Schirdewan, heading the group, will allow deepening the political dialogue and strengthen the bilateral relationship of the legislative entities.
Europe prepares media marathon against blockade of Cuba
