
Cuban Ambassador Presents Letters of Credence to the King of Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, April 24, 2025.- In a solemn ceremony held at the Istana Negara National Palace, Cuban Ambassador Yadira Ledesma Hernández presented His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, with the Letters of Credence accrediting her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Malaysia.
Following the official ceremony of presentation of the Letters of Credence, attended by Foreign Minister Honourable Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan, His Majesty held a joint audience with the newly accredited Ambassadors. During the distended exchange, the King of Malaysia reminisced about his trip to Cuba, his walk through the Malecón, and praised Cuban sugar and the famous Cuban cigars.
Two other moments of the formal event were the greeting of the Prestige Guard and the signing of the Guest Book.
Malaysia, a Southeast Asian country, and Cuba established diplomatic relations on February 6, 1975, and have since maintained a positive bilateral relationship based on mutual respect and cooperation.
