Cuba and Belgium reaffirm willingness to strengthen bilateral relations

Brussels, June 3, 2025 - A meeting took place at the headquarters of the Belgian Federal Public Service for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation between Mr. Patrick Herman, Director for the Americas and the Caribbean, and a Cuban delegation headed by Ileana Núñez Mordoche, Director for Europe and Canada of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba (MINREX).

The delegation also included Jorge Cano Pérez, Second Chief of Mission; Laura Soler Díaz, Deputy Director of Trade Policy with Europe of MINCEX and Alba Rosa Alarcón Fonseca, Commercial Counselor of the Cuban Embassy in Belgium.

During the meeting, the state of bilateral relations was discussed and it was agreed to maintain an open and constructive dialogue. The Cuban side expressed its gratitude for the traditional support of the Kingdom of Belgium for the Resolution against the blockade presented by Cuba at the United Nations General Assembly.

This meeting ratified the shared interest of Cuba and Belgium in consolidating political, economic-commercial and cooperation ties.
